In our region, the job of a Virtual Assistant is mostly associated with social media management and performing similar marketing tasks, even though that is just a small part of what a good VA should be able to do.

As a VA, you are the right hand of your employer, helping them with various tasks. This can include managing schedules and calendars, organizing meetings, preparing presentations, responding to emails, conducting research, managing social media accounts, providing customer support, and many other tasks. 

Is it easy to find a job as a virtual assistant?

The answer to this question depends on many factors – such as how much experience you have, how actively you are looking for a job, the quality of your resume, your level of digital literacy, how organized you are, etc.

The good news is that the demand for virtual assistants is on the rise. There are many platforms and agencies that connect virtual assistants with employers, and you can also find clients independently through social media and networking. The possibilities are endless!

More and more entrepreneurs and companies are recognizing the benefits of hiring virtual assistants who can help them manage their time and resources more efficiently. This is especially important for small entrepreneurs who do not have the resources to hire full-time employees or invest in office space. Virtual assistants provide them with a flexible option for getting support as needed, without significant costs.

What does a typical work environment and work schedule look like for a virtual assistant? This largely depends on individual preferences and client requirements. Most virtual assistants work from home, using their computer, internet, and phone as the basic tools for communication and work. You can organize your work hours according to your clients' needs, but it is usually expected that you are available during standard working hours in your client's or employer's time zone, so you can provide timely support and respond to urgent requests. What qualities are valued for the job of a virtual assistant? An employer who hires a virtual assistant must be 100% sure that they have found the right person, as they will share a significant workload and entrust them with important information.

Therefore, they will pay attention to even the smallest details from the very start – whether you were late for the interview, whether you took notes, whether you sent a follow-up email, whether you know how to insert a meeting link into the calendar, etc. Every small mistake can disqualify you, so – be careful! If you are not a person who pays attention to details and is very well organized, this may not be the job for you.

To successfully perform the job of a virtual assistant, you need certain skills and qualities:

  • Reliability is at the top of the list because you will have access to your employer's confidential information.
  • Excellent organization and efficient time management – virtual assistants must know how to handle different tasks and prioritize them based on their importance.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear expression of ideas and the ability to listen, are crucial for this position.
  • Since your work is primarily computer and internet-based, excellent understanding of basic software tools like the Microsoft Office suite, as well as skills in using the Internet, calendars, and project management software such as Asana, Trello, Notion, and others, is highly valued.

 

The job of a virtual assistant requires independence and the ability to take initiative. You must be able to make decisions and solve problems on your own, without constant supervision. OK, sounds great... But, how much does a Virtual Assistant earn? The salary of a virtual assistant can vary depending on several factors, including experience, skills, and geographic location.

In a global context, the average salary of virtual assistants is quite competitive and can provide a decent income – from €15-30 per hour.

It's important to note that as a virtual assistant, you have the opportunity to work for multiple employers simultaneously, which can increase your overall earnings.
